Playing Basketball with Vampires While Your Boyfriend's Over..

Life is a whirlwind. Notice I didn't say tornado--so maybe I'm dealing with things a little better today than I was last week. Life is life, and we each have to make choices...and for those of you who sent words of wisdom-friendship-or are praying, I say thanks. I won't rehash all of the details--because today I'm turning over a new leaf... which just so happens to be an old leaf--which is I think, I might be back...

So, without further ado or babbling, or throwing a pity party...let's catch up.

Miss Mae has her first Jr. High basketball game this evening. That girl was a nervous wreck last night I tell ya! After living her for 13 years now--I know that when my sweet teenager turns into a disagreeable, hateful creature-- that nerves have gotten the best of her. Unfortunately, Hannah Grace has not learned that lesson yet...

At one point last night, I over heard her telling her sister, "This is my bathroom too--you don't own it--you don't even pay for it, mom and dad pay for it, but mostly dad-so if he wants me to get out, then he can tell me to get out or pay rent..." I wonder what she'd do if her daddy actually did ask her to pay rent to use the bathroom?!? Crazee kid.

I anticipated a bloopers reel of sorts concerning Hannah Grace and her new contact lenses. I remember when I first got mine--and it seemed like it took days and days, before I got them in. I remember getting red, puffy eyes both from crying and from poking around with that little circle from hell--to no avail. However, Hannah Grace and her contacts are good buddies already, and she's been so responsible about taking care of them, and taking them out when she's supposed to ... I'm really proud of her. Another reminder that my kids are growing up... it kind of makes me sad... by the way, on Friday-Hannah Grace turns 11! Wow.

Miss Mae has a boyfriend. She's only 13! What?!? She can't have a boyfriend. Okay, I'm finished freaking out now that I've really typed it--it seems so official. Anyway, Big Daddy and I have really mixed emotions about boyfriends at 13... but since this is uncharted territory--we're trying to keep our cool and act like we know what we're doing. So, at first we were pretty set on seeing how we could sabotage the relationship (if you can even call it that).... We thought for sure that once the kid got a good look at who her parents were--and the crazeeness it entailed--this thing would be short-lived. Well, come to find out--he must be just as crazee as we are--because it's been two weeks now (which is like forever in early teen boyfriend/girlfriend world)--and no such luck in the sabotage department. In all seriousness though--it has been an adjustment ...but we were glad to discover that having a boyfriend at 13, mostly just means: sitting by each other at lunch, hanging out at after school functions, and the occassional holding of hands. Which, we can live with-- we decided that if we make a BIG deal out of something that isn't really a big deal--we'll force our kid to hide even BIGGER deals from us. Of course, in all things parenting related-- we live and learn. Oh yeah, and I have spies infiltrated just about everywhere (that I'm not)--but don't let Miss Mae know that! ;)

Hannah Grace is bound and determined to finish reading New Moon before the movie comes out on November 20th. I caught her reading it under her covers with a flashlight last night way after bedtime... Maeci, on the other hand, is perfectly content waiting for the movie. If I ever caught her reading a book after bedtime, I would probably fall over from shock! It's funny that Hannah gets in trouble for something Maeci would get praised for---hmmm, once again, I need to rethink my parenting strategy....

So there's some happenings around the crazee house! What's up in your 'hood?

10 people got crazee and lived to tell about it:

It really is funny how one child is soooooo different from the other child. I have 4 and not one of them is similar in any way. How can that be???
Boyfriends not much to say there. Good Luck. I remember my first crush and how cruched I was when it ended.I think it ended. His friend that had gym with afriend of a friend of mine said he didn't want to go out anymore. Maybe I had better look him up. LOL

I have no words of advice, because I still don't know any more how to handle the whole BF/GF thing than I did when mine were 13. And then I had to laugh out loud at the above commenter, because I am pretty sure that my first boyfriend did the same thing to me. :)

Ha! I love the part about trying to scare the boyfriend off.
My oldest daughter does NOT read for fun, and my youngest is the one who reads after bed time, just like in your house!
